Description

PLEASE NOTE: THIS ITEM IS NO LONGER SOLD THROUGH THE SITE. WHEN A MODIFIED V4 IS AVAILABLE IT WILL BE AUCTIONED OFF ON EBAY. PLEASE FOLLOW BPMC ON EBAY FOR AVAILABILITY.

RARITY: VERY HIGH. This item is very rare and almost never in stock.  I no longer modify the SFX10 or the SFX11 and I only modify a particular version of the SFX9 mixer making it even rarer.  Still, once in a blue moon one comes my way.  Please follow BPMC on IG & FB for availability notifications.

Features: 7 magnetic switch color processing effects per channel, 6 stackable wipe corruption effects with attenuation, 3 light-up pushbutton wipe animation effects and a patachable Fluxus analog circuit with 5 control knobs.

The SFX-9 Glitchmix is my personal secret weapon.  It’s really a special little circuit and sadly nearing extinction (in it’s SFX9 footprint).  This modified two channel video mixer has a lot of unique experimental video possibilities. While it’s an awesome standard definition mixer on it’s own (light-weight, lots of wipe patterns, time base correction, keying and channel effects) it really shines with a little brain salad surgery.  They are actually still in production strangely as the SFX11 (you may buy one new for 500-800 bucks, yikes!).   The added effects vary. There is a lot of wipe play here, quite a few of the added effects knobs re-shape the wipes and render the process of “wiping” stuttered & skewed.  This is for creating fragmented juxtapositions of your 2 sources.

Each BPMC modified SFX9 has the addition of a Fluxus analog glitch video processor which is super dope and handy.  The TBC on the SFX9 is VERY friendly and picks up most, if not all, of what the SFX9 is putting down.  It’s also super handy for mixer feedback processing as the SFX9 is notorious for not having the best mixer feedback right out of the box.

Note about strategy:  There is a technique to using this machine that I highlight in the videos below.  Often times I am doubling up one signal (via the monitor out feature), rendering one channel negative (utilizing the onboard effects) and wiping between the two channels utilizing added wipe corruption effects.  Obviously you can use the wipe corruption effects with two different signals but rarely do I seem to do that in the demo videos below.
